This website is run solely for the benefit of promoting Standard Bred Poultry. "It's For The Birds"
Standard breed poultry is designed to bring breeders and buyers of poultry together in an effort to preserve our poultry genetic gene pool in the U.S.
As a breeder you are welcome to set up a free account to list the breeds of birds you raise as well as what you might have for sale and available to potential breeders.
When you set up your free account you will also be taking part in our poultry breeder census.
The poultry census is an effort to establish the number of standard bred birds remaining in the U.S. Data is being gathered by breed and variety of chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and guinea fowl. The data will show total number of breeders, breeding birds, hatched birds and raised birds by breed and variety. These numbers will eventually give a good idea of the overall state of the genetic pool remaining for standard breed poultry.
Many of these breeds and varieties are in dire need of more breeders. Success depends on all breeders taking part in the census. If you know a breeder that does not use a computer please help them set up an account or have them contact us at Standard Breed Poultry.
Click Here to take the Standard Breed Poultry Census. It's for the Birds!
You will find large fowl and bantam chickens for sale, as well as ducks, geese, turkeys and guinea fowl for sale at Standard breed Poultry.com.
Most are standard bred birds for sale raised by breeders according to breed standards.
Standard breed poultry are chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and guineas that possess specific qualities outlined by the American Poultry Association known as the APA or the American Bantam Association known as the ABA.
These qualities can be found in the "Standard of Perfection" book put out by the the APA.
The ABA has a book called the "Bantam Standard" that deals with bantam breeds only.
We strongly urge you to join the APA and or the ABA to help support the future of poultry.
